Technical Writer

RKI Instruments, Inc., an innovative gas detection company located in Union City,  is seeking a focused individual with strong organizational and communication skills and a solid writing background to work in a demanding time critical environment.  

 RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Writes, proofreads, and rewrites technical manuals, training materials, user documentation, and presentations.
  • Maintains a library of technical publications and journals.
  • Recommends changes to document formats to make them easier to develop and use.
  • Coordinates the production and presentation of documents, text, artwork, photographs and other media requirements.
  • Maintains and modifies any documentation as needed because of corrections or changes to products.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Field Service/Repair Technician II

RKI Instruments, Inc., an innovative gas detection company located in Union City,  is seeking a focused individual with strong technical and customer service skills to provide on site and in shop service on RKI Instruments and Riken Keiki portable and continuous monitoring gas detection instruments.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  1. Purpose and Scope

Technician is responsible for performing repairs and start up services on RKI and Riken Keiki portable and fixed gas monitoring instruments at RKI Instruments and in the field.

  1. Responsibilities

Technician provides evaluation, estimates, repair to component level and calibration of customer returns.  Technician may be asked to provide upgrades, conversions and modifications to instruments based upon instruction from department lead and engineering.  Technician will be required to assist Field Service as needed

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Education and Training

Repair Technician II must have Associates Degree in electronics or other related field or at least 5 years prior repair/field service experience and/or equivalent military training.  Technician must be able to communicate clearly both in oral and written English and be able to work independently.  Technician must have excellent customer service skills.

  1. Technical Requirements

Technician must be proficient with the use of electronic test equipment including but not limited to digital voltmeter, oscilloscope, ammeter, and basic electronic hand tools.  Technician must also be able to read and understand schematics, loading drawings, bill of materials, wiring diagrams and be proficient in AC, DC and Digital theory and possess excellent soldering skills.
